1:1 AI Research Program for High School Students
AI education is a multi-stage learning process. Continue your AI education journey by launch challenging new projects in our 1:1 Project Mentorship Programs, designed for students with programming experience. Students new to programming are recommended to join our AI Scholars program here before pursuing the 1:1 research program.
1:1 Program: AI + X Individual Research
Inspirit AI offers a 1-on-1 research mentorship program for high school students to work individually with an experienced research mentor. In this 1:1 program, students will begin by extracting insights from large datasets, architect key questions, and then engineer machine learning models to answer them. In the process, students will iterate on their project and gain insight into the scientific research process. Upon completion of the course, students will have completed an independent AI project, research proposal, and final research paper/article. Interested students will receive guidance on how they may take their projects further to science fair or journal submission.
This program is designed for students with prior programming experience in Python (or another programming language).
Program Outcomes
-
Understand the lifecycle of a research project with literature reviews, question formulation, experimentation, analysis, technical presentation, and write-up.
-
Work with your mentor to write and edit a final research paper. Motivated students may advance their project to complete a deployed web application, submit to a high school journals or prepare for submission to a science fair event.
-
Culminate your AI experience with an AI + X Researcher Certificate by building on your AI Scholars experience through a challenging and meaningful independent research project to showcase your portfolio of projects in applied AI.

Research Project Journeys of Inspirit Alumni
“A Machine Learning Approach to Understanding the Determining Factors of the Gender Wage Gap”
This project uses machine learning to analyze gender income inequality, securing Sophia 2nd place at the 2023 San Diego Broadcom Science and Engineering Fair.
“Stellar Classification based on Numerous Characteristics using Machine Learning”
The task of stellar classification can be tedious and lengthy when done manually. One can expedite stellar classification by creating an artificial intelligence model to automate the process. Roberto’s research was published in the Journal of Student Research.
“A Hybrid CNN-LSTM Model For Predicting Solar Cycle 25”
The goal of this study is to predict Solar Cycle 25 through the deep learning approach, and determine what parameters affect prediction accuracy and what the optimal number of historical solar cycles are used to reliably and accurately predict the upcoming solar cycle.
“Applying AI to Real-World Problems: Responsible Journalism”
Named one of India’s ten Youth Changemakers of 2019 by The Better India, Ananya is currently at Princeton, pursuing a Major in Computer Science with minors in Cognitive Science, Technology and Society, and Creative Writing.
Publication Features
Our 1:1 AI + X Mentorship students develop in-depth research projects—and many students choose to share their findings with the research community through publishing their work in an academic journal, submitting to a science fair or competition, and even presenting at a conference. We are proud to share that many of our high school students have found success in publishing their work in some of the most prestigious high school journals, competitions, and conferences across the globe—from the Journal of Emerging Investigators to International Science and Engineering Fairs.
