AI Student Project Instructor Explores its Applications to Speech & Audio Recognition

Student Project Instructor Rohan Badlani teaches college-bound high school students about artificial intelligence with Inspirit AI.

Rohan is an alumnus of Stanford University’s Master’s program in Computer Science. Passionate about AI, he has applied Machine Learning to speech and audio recognition. Rohan is very excited about the applications of unsupervised learning to help humans in different areas of their daily lives.

HOW DID YOU DECIDE TO STUDY AI, AND COMPUTER SCIENCE IN GENERAL?

“Growing up, I could see the impact of technology on the lives of people and their productivity. This led me to choose to study Computer Science. After delving deep into several areas within CS, I developed a strong interest in Machine Learning and its potential impact on people’s lives, and that’s how I decided to delve deep into AI!”

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ADVICE TO STUDENTS INTERESTED IN AI, STARTING THEIR JOURNEY IN THE FIELD?

“The first thing you can do is to develop strong fundamentals in math, probability, and statistics. This will help you, in the long run, to understand AI more deeply and thoroughly. Whatever you decide to do, learn by doing! Find a problem, and get to it.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF TEACHING AI WITH INSPIRIT?

“The enthusiasm and energy demonstrated by my students! They’re always very eager to learn, and they are always excited to come to the classroom.”

In class, students valued Rohan’s expertise and continued support in their project, from start to finish.

“Rohan gave us specific and effective feedback throughout the entire project,” says one of his former students. “He helped us with our code bugs, all the way to procuring fun images for our final slideshow. Our entire group was excited to see how our hard work paid off when the other instructors reacted very positively to our presentation.”
