Instructor Greta Farrell Is Developing Inspirit AI's Middle School Curriculum To Teach and Inspire Future AI Scholars

Greta Farrell is an MIT alum, class of 2018, where she studied Mathematical Economics with a minor in Public Policy. Greta was a middle and high school math teacher before joining Inspirit as a middle school curriculum developer. Fun fact: Greta only just learned how to code this past year--she took seven courses online from MITx including ones on computer science, data science, machine learning, and equity in education.

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE WHAT YOU STUDIED IN COLLEGE? HOW DID YOU END UP STUDYING AI?

“I actually never learned to code or took a class on machine learning until after college! It goes to show that it's never too late (or too early as may be the case for many of our students) to start your journey in AI and machine learning.”

WHAT RESEARCH/INDUSTRY WORK WITHIN AI HAVE YOU BEEN FOCUSED ON? WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT THE FUTURE OF AI?

“I've been developing a middle school curriculum for Inspirit, and I'm excited to see how the new AI Creators enjoy the course! Our students are the future of AI, and the fact that they are learning how to use it responsibly and ethically shows that the future is bright.”

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE IN INSPIRIT AI?

“Seeing students engage with AI and machine learning without prior programming experience is awesome. Inspirit gets rid of the barriers to AI by teaching students the programming they need to know along the way while they learn machine learning concepts, train their own models, and interpret results.”
